Nomura’s equities and fixed income divisions handle client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds around the world. We act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products. Fixed income: By developing strong relationships with our client base through consistent interaction, independent advice and pre-eminent access to Asia, we have built a powerful global franchise across interest rates, currency and credit products. Our client services are far reaching across volume driven flow products and carefully tailored and structured solutions.  In Fixed income Research we cover over 90 percent of the world’s economic and financial indicators, positioning us to provide timely information that investors can use.

Equities: We have exploited the changing financial landscape to build a client centric focus differentiated by innovation, electronic and service excellence and market leading derivatisation capabilities.  We offer our clients superior access and liquidity as demonstrated by our #1 ranking on the London Stock Exchange since 2009. What's involved?

Our world-class training programs have been developed to ensure that you have an excellent introduction to the firm and key requirements to build a successful career platform. You will learn hands-on skills such as valuation, pricing and structuring. The emphasis here is on practical application - we will make sure that you quickly develop the technical proficiency and strong business skills you need to thrive in this fast-moving market environment. Throughout your development, you will be supported by a buddy, mentor and our dedicated program management team.

Sales: Develop and maintain strong relationships with the firm’s clients that include banks, pension funds, hedge funds, insurance companies and corporate clients. Sales colleagues are responsible for delivering the capabilities of the firm in the form of services and products that best suit the clients’ needs.

Trading: Control and manage the firm’s exposure to the markets by buying and selling securities and providing liquidity (market-making). Traders work together with sales, structuring and research in the development of trading strategies for our clients.

Research: Provide internal and external views and published research on sectors, companies and markets. Deliver insights, investment ideas and strategies for asset managers and internal clients that assume market risk.

Structuring: Design and develop innovative products and strategies that are tailored to specific client needs. Structurers work together with sales, trading and research to analyze the risk exposure of the firm’s clients, and deliver tailor-made solutions that address their needs.

What will I need?

For an Analyst position you should have or expect a minimum 2.1, Distinction or 3.5 GPA (or equivalent) degree in any discipline. A Masters degree is advantageous but not a requirement. You should be highly numerate and a strong communicator. Fluency in English is essential and fluency in other Asian languages is often required for certain roles and locations.

For an Associate role, you must have, or be completing an MBA and have at least 2 to 3 years’ relevant work experience and demonstration of a strong sense of commerciality.
