Our Community

Nomura has a long history of supporting community and charitable activities across the region through activities which enhance opportunities for future generations.  The Community Affairs programme provides a strategic platform for engagement in local community initiatives and builds philanthropic giving across the region.

In EMEA, our efforts are focused on supporting the next generation by investing in educational activities that support disadvantaged young people across the region.  Our activities build sustainable partnerships that combine financial support with the knowledge, action and dedication of our employees.

Nomura partners with a number of organisations to have a direct impact on our local communities by combing donations with the volunteer efforts of our employees.  Our collaborative approach maximises our involvement and we look to the long-term to ensure our efforts are sustainable and are results-driven.

Our employees are encouraged to get involved through our active employee engagement programme.  In the London office, 35% of staff currently volunteer benefitting 21 organisations.

Examples of our partnerships include:

Oaklands Secondary School partnership

  Southwark Park Primary School partnership
  The Nomura-Josh Lewsey Rugby Academy

A key part of our programme is our active fundraising partnership.  Every two years, employees vote for their chosen UK charity partner through an online vote. Our partnership enables us to take a focused approach to our fundraising activities and allows our employees to work together in support of a common cause.

2009-2011 - Teenage Cancer Trust

Teenage Cancer Trust was selected by over 1,000 Nomura employees to be our UK Charity partner from May 2009 to April 2011.

The Nomura Charitable Trust is a grant giving organisation funded by Nomura International plc and its employees.  The Trust was established in 2009 to support charitable activities by building philanthropic giving across the region.  The Trust's grant giving programme funds charities which focus on educational achievement, employability potential and aspirations of disadvantaged children and young people living in poverty, deprivation and high risk situations.

The Nomura Charitable Trust is only able to consider organisations which are referred by a Nomura employee.
