Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in March 2010

 

Nomura is proud to be the first-ever Title Sponsor of Teenage Cancer Trust's highly-regarded concert series at the Royal Albert Hall in March 2010. Teenage Cancer Trust is Nomura's UK charity partner for 2009-2011. The concerts at the Royal Albert Hall are one of the main fund-raising events for Teenage Cancer Trust. The Nomura Varsity Match

 

Nomura is proud to once again sponsor the Oxford v Cambridge Varsity Match - the 128th match between these two universities. The very first Varsity match was played in February 1872 in Oxford, just one year after the first ever international match was held. Despite losing last year, Cambridge is currently in the lead with 60 wins to Oxford's 54. There have been 14 draws, the most recent being in 2003.

The Nomura Centre for Mathematical Finance

 

The Nomura Centre for Mathematical Finance ("NCMF") was established in 2001 with the support of the Nomura Group. The NCMF sits within the Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, which is part of the Mathematical Institute, Oxford University.

The Centre's aim is to promote research in mathematics and finance, with a special emphasis on approaches that combine practical relevance with mathematical interest.

The NCMF supports several academic posts including a Junior Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow and Distinguished Visitor positions, and graduate students under the United Kingdom's Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council CASE Awards scheme. The Centre supports a seminar series in mathematical finance.

Distinguished academics have contributed to the annual lecture:

  • 2009: Professor Andrew Lo, Harris and Harris Group Professor of Finance at MIT Sloan School of Management 
  • 2008: Dr Harry M. Markowitz Nobel Laureate in Economics 1990 
  • 2007: Dr Peter Carr, Head of Quantitative Financial Research at Bloomberg LP and Director of the Masters in Mathematical Finance at Courant Institute, NYU
  • 2006: Professor Stephen Ross, Franco Modigliani Professor of Finance and Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
