Finance
What is it?
Nomura's dynamic finance and controllers division supports and controls the needs of the business through accounting, treasury, tax and regulatory services. As well as managing the flow of money in and out of the business, the finance department's internal control systems provide an excellent overview of Nomura Europe's performance including revenues, expenses, regulatory capital and headcount.
Working in finance and controllers you'll join our rotation scheme that exposes you to different areas of the business. This gives you a really good understanding of how the finance division works and enables you to meet some of the other teams who work in this area of the business. Finance is made up of product control, risks and controls, management information systems (MIS), corporate reporting, capital production control, finance business reporting and control and global treasury.

Technology
What is it?

Risk
What is it?
The risk management department is a highly international team of technical analysts. We provide senior management with an independent view of the material market and model risks in Nomura's business in Europe as well as working closely with our colleagues in Tokyo, New York and Hong. We have a broad range of expertise in market and portfolio analysis, mathematical modelling, technical development and project management. The department has three hubs market risk, credit exposure measurement, and model validation. All groups work closely with credit risk, finance and controllers and global markets.
Operations
What is it?
Operations' primary responsibility is the processing, control and settlement of Nomura's transactions, with a focus on high levels of straight through processing (STP). As part of the business infrastructure services division we work closely with our colleagues in Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong as well as supporting a network of continental European offices.
In addition to settlement responsibilities in all active markets, operations ensure that our agents, custodians and service providers maintain a suitable level of ongoing support via our network management team.
Internal audit
What is it?
The European internal audit team work in partnership with senior management across the organisation to implement control improvements in an effort to provide independent assurance that the risks faced across all business units and product areas are adequately controlled and minimised. The team's direct reporting line to the non-executive audit committee strengthens the impact of its audit recommendations, which can increasingly be seen globally throughout the organisation.
Corporate communications
What is it?
Corporate Communications is a central function that works with all of Nomura's business division to strategically engage with its stakeholders, both internally and externally, and safeguard Nomura's reputation. Although smaller than some of Nomura's other divisions, in the communications team you will have the opportunity to spend time working with each of the three functions, and will be networking with people across the business from the outset. We work closely with our colleagues in Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong as well as managing agencies who support our continental offices.
