  • We’re looking for technology graduates to work alongside our frontline businesses to deliver cutting edge technology solutions
  • Working in an advanced IT environment we ensure our graduates’ technical skills are kept current through on-the-job and classroom-based training.

What is it?
Nomura is at the forefront of developing technology to support our business needs. Managed within the Global IT and Operations division and with a team of over 115, Technology ensures Nomura is making the most of its infrastructure that is so essential to our competitiveness and cost-effectiveness.

Nomura has worked closely with leading industry organisations and suppliers to implement a truly cutting-edge standards-based systems infrastructure. Part of Technology’s role is stay ahead in the way that we organise our businesses and support processes, and how we interact with our clients, partners, regulators and suppliers.

We’ve recently overhauled much of our IT services and systems platforms. As a result we now have an enterprise-wide, distributed platform, which is being used at the core of all of our products and across the firm (in front, middle and back offices).

We’ve also developed component-based systems and workflow technologies with integrated systems that are designed to respond to changing business needs. Working with our major partners, including SUN Microsystems, Microsoft, and HP, we have deployed a highly standardised infrastructure and have developed systems in J2EE and Microsoft.NET.

We are now focusing on investing in and standardising our platforms on a global basis and work closely with our other major centres based in New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo, together with satellite operations in other major financial centres.

Technology’s key responsibilities include:

  • supporting and working with front line business systems groups in Global Markets and IBD
  • supporting Operations, Finance, Corporate and Administration departments
  • organisational alignment with support groups to provide transparency and clear business ownership of technology solutions
  • working with business groups to ensure effectiveness of investment and budget decision making
  • working with company-wide technology teams and business groups to define and develop improvements in Nomura's Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning strategies
