Our Commitment

Nomura International plc is committed to produce and deliver a professional environmental management system.

It is the policy of Nomura International plc to minimise the potentially harmful affects of our operations, products and services on the environment.  We will promote sustainability and environmental awareness.

In defining our programme of improved environmental and waste management performance, we will:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and commit to environmental good practice throughout our business activities.
• Implement waste and waste-water management strategies that promote waste minimisation, re-use, recovery and recycling where appropriate.
• Pursue a programme of continuous improvement of our policies and practice through the design and implementation of an environmental management system, initiation of an integrated programme of target setting, key parameter measurement (e.g. energy use per employee, waste production per employee etc.) and performance review.
• Incorporate energy efficient measures into building design and promote efficient energy use in all areas of business activity.
• Promote the use of suppliers and services that adhere to environmental good practice; incorporating specific environmental requirements into contracts with our principal suppliers.
• Specify purchasing products from sustainable sources, products made from recycled materials or those designed to be easily reused or recycled.
• Raise staff awareness of environmental issues and provide information and training where appropriate.
• Ensure that our Policy, environmental performance and other relevant information are available for public review.

Adherence to this policy will be communicated throughout the Company. The degree of adherence, as measured by the performance reviews, being an important indicator of the Company’s commitment to environmental issues and a sustainable future.
