Nomura's prime services business cuts across fixed-income and equities and extends geographically across the US, Europe and Asia. Our client base is largely made up of hedge funds but also covers asset managers and investors in hedge funds.

Nomura's competitive position in this business is based on its market-leading execution services, its strength as a credit counterparty and leading product knowledge in fixed income, foreign exchange, interest rate and credit derivatives as well as cross-asset products.

Core services include:

• providing finance to leverage trades;
• reporting on trading positions;
• asset servicing - this includes the collection of interest payments, processing corporate actions and applying for tax relief on behalf of customers. 

The financial crisis has created an opportunity for us, as a new participant in prime services, to build a platform that fits the rapidly changing financial and regulatory landscape. 

Our strong Asian franchise also helps us serve the region's fast-growing hedge fund industry.
