Merchant Banking

Our teams consist of professionals whose collective experience encompasses bio-pharma, technology, healthcare, clean technology, business services and corporate finance backgrounds. We also rely heavily on an extensive network of prominent advisors from our target sectors.

Merchant Banking is the Private Equity and Venture Capital arm of Nomura, one of the world's leading investment banks and Japan's largest securities firm. Since its creation in 1997, our Group has invested in over 80 companies in the US, UK and rest of Europe.

We invest Nomura's own funds, which gives us substantial flexibility to choose when and where we want to invest and enables us to execute transactions on a timely basis.

We seek to add value to our investee companies through our relationships with global investors and corporates, our network of advisors and through sector knowledge.

We have three investment teams

• Nomura Phase4 Ventures (NPV): investing in emerging healthcare companies excluding healthcare services companies;
• Nomura New Energy and Clean Technology Ventures: investing in game-changing, proven technologies particularly within American and European firms aiming to take advantage of the surge in demand for clean energy and water technologies in Asia;
• Nomura Private Equity: investing in mid-cap UK-based sector leaders, in healthcare, business services, and IT& Communications services sectors
