Andrew Healey - Head of Nomura Private Equity

Andrew is responsible for Nomura’s UK mid-cap private equity investment activities. On his return from Hong Kong in 2001 Andrew assumed the management of Nomura’s $300m portfolio of over 50 technology investments. In 2003 he started Nomura’s second technology fund with investments in netForensics, Revivio, Meriton, Visage, Operax and Compellent In 2005 he diversified the team’s activities to include Healthcare Services and later Business Services.
He has served on a number of boards including WGSN, Arraycomm, Revivio, netForensics, Lifeways, Nations Healthcare and Compellent. Prior to Nomura he worked for SG Securities and Bankers Trust.
During his 25 year career Andrew has been involved in various investment banking roles in London, Hong Kong and Los Angeles including M&A, equity capital markets and corporate restructuring.

Shay Ramalingam - Principal

Within Nomura, Shay is responsible for identifying and executing investments in the healthcare and business services sectors.
Shay completed Nomura’s investments in Nations Healthcare and Lifeways Community Care and is responsible for developing Nomura’s investments in Healthcare and Business Services.
He served on the board of Lifeways Community Care and was an observer to the board of Nations Healthcare.
Shay qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London with Arthur Andersen and joined Nomura from Deloitte & Touche Corporate Finance.
Shay was a lecturer in management at the University of London and holds a first class degree in economics from Cambridge University

Dr Mark Ratnarajah - Principal

Within Nomura, Mark is responsible for portfolio management and deal origination from a clinical perspective. Mark is an expert on clinical workforce dynamics and has lectured on healthcare policy.
Mark has an undergraduate degree in Experimental Pathology from London University and a Medical degree from Oxford University.
He has worked extensively for the British, Australian and New Zealand Health Services and is an experienced clinician in Internal Medicine and Critical Care.
He has been awarded Membership to the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Paediatrics and Child Health and holds an Executive MBA from the London Business School.

Rob Oldham - Associate

Rob joined Nomura in April 2004, specialising in telecommunications infrastructure.
Rob started his career with the Boston Consulting Group in Sydney, Australia, and undertook strategy consulting work for transport, financial services and telecommunications customers.
He joined Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications provider, in 1999, where he worked in corporate, technology and business strategy roles; project included evaluation of future access methods and assessing the competitive impact of alternative bandwidth suppliers.
Rob holds both a BSc and BEng(Electronic) from the University of Western Australia in Perth.

Max Vuokko - Associate

Max joined Nomura in 2006, where he is responsible for financial modelling. Max holds an MSc (Econ) from the Helsinki Swedish School of Economics.
During studies he worked for Nordea Securities as a stock broker assistant and taking care of international settlement issues.
After graduating he worked in the investment banking division at JPMorgan as an Analyst and Associate. He has also worked in the Business Modelling Group at KPMG, where he specialised in deal modelling and interim management reporting.
His clients consisted mostly of large UK corporates (incl. BP, BT, BUPA) and PE houses. Max is fluent in Finnish, Swedish and German.

Tom Shelford - Associate

Tom joined Nomura in 2008, specialising in business services.
Tom is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers ('PwC') in London. Tom has worked exclusively with mid market companies in the UK for over 5 years and has gained experience in assurance, due diligence and corporate finance.
Latterly within Corporate Finance Tom focused exclusively on the Business Services sector, specifically targeting and executing transactions across the Logistics, Professional Advisory, Facilities Management and Human Capital Management sub-sectors.
Tom holds an LLB with 1st class honours from Bristol University.

Bianca Martin - Executive Assistant

Bianca joined the Nomura Private Equity team in May 2007 as the Executive Assistant.
Prior to joining Nomura, Bianca has worked on a number of international sporting events including the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, various international rugby matches, Rugby World Cup 2003, 2006 Commonwealth Games, and the 15th Asian Games Doha.
