Spin-outs

Phase4 Ventures is well positioned to take advantage of the increasing number of spin-out opportunities arising from continuing strategy reviews in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.

Spin-outs are more complex than regular financings. Phase4 Ventures is a preferred partner for such transactions given its experience in both the US and Europe, access to substantial internal and external human resources and its investment size. In February 2008, we have led the spin-out of Albireo AB from AstraZeneca. This followed on from earlier successes of leading the spin-out of Zosano Pharma (formerly The Macroflux Corporation) from Johnson & Johnson/Alza and Nabriva Therapeutics from Sandoz/Novartis in 2006.
