Whatever qualifies you as a returner, whether you’ve been caring for your family, travelling or simply exploring some different ventures – we know you have been building a range of invaluable skills to compliment your professional experience. If you’re now ready to return to your career, we encourage you to explore our range of opportunities within the Technology Division.

We welcome applications from those who are looking to return to their career in Technology and have taken a career break of 18 months or more. During this time you may have been working in a field unrelated to your past career, or have been out of paid work for an extended period.

The world of technology is fast moving and there are excellent opportunities to find a fulfilling role that also provides the flexibility you need. All roles are available on a hybrid, 4 or 5 day a week basis. There are occasions when we are able to consider alternative flexible working arrangements, and we are happy to discuss individual requirements.

The first 3 months

Once you have secured a position we will provide you with pre-commencement training and throughout the first 3 months you will have 121 transitional coaching sessions and any relevant technical training for your role. We will help you develop a range of valuable skills, give you exposure to a wide-reaching influential network and guarantee your involvement in high impact projects.

Back to work with our support

Our goal is to support your transition back in to the workplace and get a taste of a career in a global investment bank. You will have the support of your line manager, your coach, your mentor and buddy. We also have employee networks that you can join for further support and to build your network across the firm. In order to secure a position as a Returner you will need to have the permanent right to work in the UK and have had a career break of at least 18 months.

All of our roles are hybrid and we have a City based London office, in an enviable location on the river.

Frequently asked questions

What support will Nomura provide when I start?

In addition to the standard benefits that all colleagues receive, as a returner you will be allocated a mentor and a buddy. The mentor will typically be someone a little more senior that you, who can provide help and advice as well as assisting with your network. The buddy will be in your team. They will be there to support on a day to day basis. You will also have a representative who can provide pastoral care and will help with any questions that may arise.

Every month for the first 3 months you will have a coaching session to help you to on-board smoothly. On the technical side you will also receive a Pluralsight licence for any training needs that may arise.

Are the roles all based in the same office?

Yes, all the roles available are based at our London Office at 1 Angel Lane. We are right on the river, next to London Bridge. We are very close to Cannon Street and all of the shops, cafés and restaurants the City of London has to offer.

Our Terrace on the 6th Floor has arguably one of the best views in London.

What facilities are available at Nomura?

There are great facilities at Nomura which help you structure your working day. We have a restaurant on the 6th floor that caters for food all through the day, breakfast right through to dinner.

There are also additional cafés on a number of floors that are run by Benugo’s which are also great breakout areas for more informal meetings.

The one site gym is situated on the lower ground floor and offers classes and facilities which are available throughout the day.
