We have excellent facilities, including a health and fitness centre that helped us to become Britain's healthiest large workplace in 2016, 2017, and 2018. On-site we have:
Our business is built on knowledge and curiosity and we offer great opportunities for you to build leadership capabilities and develop key skills at every stage of your career.
The range of learning opportunities available is extensive, from online learning to programmes with external experts who build leadership and professional skills. We also offer sponsorship to study for professional qualifications.
Our commitment to diversity is reflected in our approach to learning, with women's programmes for every stage of your career and unconscious bias and inclusive leadership training for all levels.
Sports, arts and social activities are a great way for you to meet colleagues with similar interests. With many internal clubs, you're sure to find one you want to join or you can even start your own!
Our sports range from netball to bouldering, arts activities include the popular Nomura Voices choir, and we also run social activities, such as the Japan Club for those with an interest in the country and its culture.
We believe that volunteering is time well spent and encourage you to get involved with the communities around our office during paid time. Our permanent employees are entitled to two working days each holiday year to volunteer to support charitable causes. Currently, 1,200 employees give over 4,000 hours of voluntary service during company hours.
Our Nomura Charitable Trust was established in 2009 as a way for employees to support disadvantaged young people in the local communities. We support them through grant allocations and employee engagement in the form of volunteering and other engagement initiatives, making a significant impact both internally and externally. So far we have achieved over £3.3million in grants, and our employees have donated over 48,000 hours of volunteering hours and supported thousands of young people across the UK.
Diversity is critical to our success as a firm. We strive to create an environment where every individual can feel empowered to bring their authentic selves to work and thrive in an inclusive environment. Our EMEA Senior Executives play a pivotal role in setting our aspirational diversity goals and priorities to ensure that people from every walk of life feel valued at Nomura. We also have four employee-driven Inclusion Networks to encourage networking and raise awareness:
Our networks are at the heart of marking key DEI dates and events which include International Women’s Day, Pride Month, Mental Health Awareness Week, UK Black History Month and religious festivals such as Eid, Diwali, Rosh Hashanah and Christmas.
We are proud signatories of HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter and BiTC’s Race at Work Charter. We also work with a variety of external partners to make our workplace as diverse, open and inclusive as possible.
