Kevin Gaynor
Nomura Global Head of Asset Allocation Strategy
Prior to joining Nomura in 2010, he was at RBS as Head of Rates Research before forming the Global Macro Strategy Unit with Bob Janjuah in the role of Chief Markets Economist. Kevin started his career at SBC where he held a number of roles including rates and FX strategist, deputy Global Economist, Chief European Economist and Head of European Equity Strategy. Kevin holds a BSc in Physics, an MBA in Finance and a PhD in Economics and Politics. He is a regular in the financial media and author of Economic Convergence in Europe.
Witold Bahrke
Nomura Asset Allocation Senior Strategist
Witold is an Asset Allocation Strategist in Global Markets Research. Prior to joining Nomura in 2014, he held a position as a Macro Strategist at PFA Asset Management and started his career as an analyst at Danske Capital in Copenhagen. Witold holds a M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Copenhagen.
Nick Matthews
Nomura Senior European Economist
Nick Matthews is Executive Director and Senior European Economist, having joined Nomura in August 2012. Prior to this, Nick has also held the position of Senior European Economist at RBS (2009-2012) and during his time at Barclays Capital (1999-2009).
As part of his role within the European Economics team, Nick focuses on monetary policy developments in the euro area. He holds an MSc Economics from Bikbeck College, University of London, and a BSc (Hons) in Banking and International Finance from City University Business School (now Cass Business School).
Yunosuke Ikeda
Nomura Head of FX Strategy, Research Japan
Yunosuke Ikeda is a Managing Director and Head of FX Strategy (Japan), with a focus on USD/JPY and other G10 currencies. He is also a main coordinator of global currency forecasts of Nomura. He has specialized exclusively in research on Japan's macro-economy and currency for the past 16 years since he joined Nomura in 1995. In addition to analysis of Japanese investment flows, Ikeda provides detailed research on Japan’s currency intervention. He worked in London from 2003 to 2008, discussing Japan's macroeconomy and currency policy with European and US investors. In 2003, he graduated from the University of Rochester's MBA program. In 1995, Ikeda graduated from the University of Tokyo with a Bachelor of Economics.
Andy Chaytor
Nomura Head of European Interest Rates
Andy Chaytor is the Head of European Interest Rates Strategy at Nomura. Prior to joining he was at RBS, where he held a number of roles including rates strategist, credit strategist and macro strategist. Andy holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.
Erik Parker
Nomura ABS Strategist
Erik is an Executive Director in Nomura’s European Asset-Backed Strategy team. The team covers European ABS, RMBS and select mortgage covered bond sectors, and earned a Top 3 ranking in the 2013 Institutional Investor Research Survey. Prior to joining Nomura, Erik was at Barclays Capital, initially structuring CMBS and later working out CRE loan positions. He also worked at Morgan Stanley and ING Barings. Erik holds a Master of Science degree from Imperial College, London.
Anthony Morris
Nomura Global Head of Quantitative Strategies
Anthony Morris is a Managing Director and is the Global Head of Quantitative Strategies. He focuses on rules-based investment strategies driven by economic and market fundamentals. His work spans interest rates, foreign exchange, credit and commodities. Prior to Nomura, Anthony was at Lehman Brothers and UBS AG. Anthony majored in Economics and English Literature at Dartmouth College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Later, he earned a doctorate in finance at New York University's Stern School of Business.
Bob Janjuah
Nomura Senior Independent Client Advisor
Bob Janjuah is Co-Head of GFI Macro Strategy Research. He joined Nomura in 2010. Since 2003, Bob has focused on macro credit, risk and FI strategy, at ABN, at Bear Stearns and at RBS, where he held the role of Chief Credit Strategist from May 2006 to late 2008 and more recently as their Chief Markets Strategist. Bob was Global Head of Credit Research at SBC/UBS in the mid-1990s and subsequently held a number of senior positions in the credit and FI markets, including Head of Credit Trading, Europe, at Hypovereinsbank and Head of Proprietary Credit Trading and Macro Hedging at ABN Amro in Europe.
Tom Pelc
Nomura Co-Head of Macro Technical Strategy
Tom Pelc has 29 years’ experience in the financial markets.
He spent his first six and a half years in the industry working at Standard and Poor’s as a strategist. In the mid 90’s Tom went to Merrill Lynch as a senior macro tech strategist covering all asset classes. From Merrill Lynch Tom switched to the buy-side to work for a hedge fund as a Portfolio Manager/Trader, managing and trading a $2 billion portfolio. He traded listed and OTC Euro and US products and was in the top 15 of the Maclagan list of traders.
From there Tom became a consultant to 1st tier banks and one of his clients (RBS) engaged him full time for 11 years as the Head of Global Tech strategy.
Tom left RBS three and a half years ago to join Nomura covering all asset classes, working for the trading arm of the group whilst remaining client facing. He is also a part-time lecturer at the London School of Economics and part-time examiner for professional banking exams.
He is recognized as one the top 5 leading techies in the world today working for sell-side institutions having been invited to the New York Stock Exchange to be one of the 5 technicians’ technician. He has extensive contacts across the globe from Central Banks, Pension funds, hedge funds and high net worth individuals.
Lefteris Farmakis
Nomura European Economist – Greece Specialist
Lefteris Farmakis is an associate in the Economics team, which he joined in November 2011. He is providing coverage on the European periphery and also develops rates strategy views for periphery countries. Prior to his current role he was part of Macro Strategy from January 2010 until August 2010; and subsequently the FX team from August 2010, generating research analysis and trade ideas across the foreign exchange, fixed income and credit markets. Lefteris earned a PhD in Philosophy of Science from LSE in 2008.
