Nomura Americas is proud to be a Bronze Sponsor of this year’s NYC Pride March, which will be hosting WorldPride, making the event the largest LGBTQIA+ march in the world. This celebration will also mark the 50^th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and a half-century of LGBTQIA+ liberation.

The first March was held in 1970 and has since become an annual celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community. Last year’s parade had over 550 marching groups representing non-profits, community organizations, corporate sponsors, small businesses among others with over 100 floats. This year Nomura will be part of this number, contributing a float and 400 marchers.

We welcome you, your family, friends, and colleagues to join Nomura Americas in marching on June 30^th in celebration of NYC Pride and WorldPride.

The March is open to all employees. Starting on 5th Avenue at 26th Street, the march will head south before heading west on 8th Street. After crossing over 6th Avenue, the March will continue on Christopher Street, passing the site designated in 2016 by President Barack Obama as the Stonewall National Monument. 
It will then turn north on 7th Avenue, before dispersing in Chelsea just north of 23rd Street and 7th Avenue.

You will receive a complimentary Nomura parade shirt, and we plan to take group photos of all the participants along with their supporters.

Expenses:
Registration costs for marchers will be covered by Nomura. Any additional expenses and/or donations must be covered by the individual. Donations are in support of the event organizers, Heritage of Pride/NYC Pride. 

Moment of Silence:
There is one Moment of Silence at 11:58 a.m., prior to step-off at 12 PM. WorldPride requests that everyone in The March stop walking, talking, dancing, etc. in order to remember those from our community that were lost to AIDS and AIDS-related complications as well as hate crimes. Additionally, they ask for quiet during the singing of the National Anthem and any opening words prior to the step-off.

Volunteers and Donations

Nomura welcomes volunteers who are willing to help work the event. You will receive a complimentary volunteer shirt and our gratitude! Participation is completely voluntary. If you are interested in finding out more about this volunteer opportunity, please fill out the below form. 

Volunteer Positions:
Group Leaders (x8): You will be responsible for being a liaison between the organizers and march participants for Nomura on the day of the parade. You will be required to attend one in-person training session in April 2019 and wear designated Marshal apparel so that you are identifiable to the police as responsible for the group.

Marcher Registration Donation:
Please consider a donation of $10 per marcher to the event organizer, Heritage of Pride/NYC Pride when you register. Heritage of Pride is a 501c3 non-profit organization and with your support, they can continue making the Pride March a better, more exciting event for the entire community every year.
